The Season Pass is still available for purchase through the end of September 2009.  The pass allows your children access to many of the FOW events throughout the year, including Halloween Happenings, Holiday Boutique, Toy Bingo and Hot Dogs to Go.

In addition this year, we are offering a VERY COOL Aluminum Water Bottle with the Winthrop School name right on it.

Highlights from FOW September Meeting

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the new parent coffee and first Friends of Winthrop meeting today, Friday, September 18.  Minutes will be posted on this website next week; but in the meantime, we wanted to share a few meeting highlights for those of you who could not attend.

• Dr. Marinel McGrath:  Dr. McGrath joined us for our first FOW meeting of the school year.  She has kindly offered to join our meetings on a quarterly basis to check in and answer any questions parents have about the school system in general.
• Hat Day:  On Wednesday, October 7, send your kids to school with one dollar and they can wear their hat all day long.  This is a very exciting opportunity for the kids and they love to take part.
• Field Trip to The Farm:  Our fall adult social will be held on October 16 at The Farm Bar and Grille in Essex from 6:30-9:30pm.  Please save the dates now and line up your sitters so you can join us for a night of fun.  A formal invitation will be arriving via your children’s backpacks next week – we hope you can join us.  Any questions related to the social, please contact Esther Vanier at Ewvanier [at] verizon.net.
• Halloween Happenings:  Yes, Halloween will be here before we know it; and a big highlight of the season for Winthrop is our Halloween Happenings event on October 23 from 5:30-7pm.  We need LOTS of volunteers, so please reach out to Tess Leary at learyfam5 [at] verizon.net.

More information from the meeting will be posted in the minutes next week.  Thanks again for everyone who participated today; and has already volunteered their time and expertise for events throughout the year.

Today, Wednesday, Sept 9, is the first day to school for the Kindergarten class – class of 2022 – could it be?

Big brothers and big sisters of the new Kindergarteners, and those students who may know a K-kid – please help them along in the school.

Welcome Back Students!

It’s September 2nd and most of our children have climbed on the bus for the first day of school.  For some of us parents with Kindergarteners, we still have kids at home until next Wednesday.

Please keep your eyes peeled for information from Friends of Winthrop (FOW) coming home in your kids’ backpacks.  And, stay tuned to this site for updated information.

We have a lot of fun planned for the first couple months of the school year.

August 31 Ice Cream Social a Success!

Thanks to everyone who participated today in Meet the Teachers, followed by the Annual Ice Cream Social.  It was wonderful to see old friends and new faces, and watch the kids play together on the new equipment, donated by Friends of Winthrop last year.
