Scholastic Book Fair: Dec 1-3, 2011

The Book Fair is coming!

Each class will have time during the school day on Thursday 12/1 and Friday 12/2 to come in and shop.  To purchase books, please send in cash or a check the day of the fair.  We love checks, they help prevent lost cash.  If you send in a check, please write it out to the Friends of Winthrop with a “not to exceed” dollar amount in the memo field or number of books to purchase and we will send home a receipt with the amount written on the check.

The book fair is a great place for parents to find gifts for birthdays, holidays as well as excellent teacher gifts!  Feel free to stop in and browse anytime during the school day without your child.  Classroom wish lists will be available to families that wish to select books to help build the classroom libraries, books make great gifts for teachers.  Every purchase for the class will have a special bookplate with the donor of the new book.

We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!

What to do at the Holiday Boutique

The Holiday Boutique is coming soon – December 3, 2011.  And we still have many jobs available both before and during the event – take a look at this list and let us know what you can help with.

THE WRAPPING ROOM

  • Donations Needed – we especially are in need of Christmas Holiday Bags (of all sizes) and Tissue Paper. These donations are vital to the success of the Children’s Secret Shop. There is already a box located on the stage in the cafeteria to place your donations Thank You!
  • Volunteers Needed – Come have some fun in the “Rocking Wrapping Room!” We need lots of volunteers, and we only need a small block of your time to help. Super easy, and super fun! Contact Missy Goodwin at missygoodwin@verizon.net

SILENT AUCTION

  • The fabulous Silent Auction will, once again, feature lots of terrific items made by the kids or provided by many of the wonderful Winthrop families. If you would like to contribute to the Auction or help us get organized, please contact Bonnie Roselli at Karl@clubsafe.com

CHILDREN’S SECRET SHOP

  • The Children’s Secret Shop is a special place where children can shop for their parents, siblings, grandparents, or anyone on their list. Children love the chance to shop by themselves, pick out wonderful handmade items, and get their presents wrapped and ready to put under the tree. It is one of the highlights of the holiday boutique and is only possible because of the help and generosity of our fabulous Winthrop parents.
  • Children’s Secret Shop will be open from 9-1. However, season pass holders and the children of volunteers will get an early 8:30 start!
  • To volunteer here, please contact Melanie Malloy at mdeforest34@mac.com and Shauna Joyal at shaunahj@verizon.net

BUY YOUR HOLIDAY GREENS

  • Greens, greens, greens! The time is coming for all to think about holiday decorating. Kissing balls and wreaths are on the way! Order forms will be in backpacks November 7th and need to be in by November 18th. Pick up for greens will be Saturday November 26th or Monday November 28th. More details to come! Happy Holidays!

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

  • Do you love books? Are you a new parent or just looking for a fun way to get involved? This is it! We need a co-chair for the book fair which takes place Dec. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. No experience necessary.
  • Contact Christine Cutter at clcutter@verizon.net

Get Involved in the Holiday Boutique

We Need Your Help

The Holiday Boutique – December 3, 2011 – runs on the efforts put forth by generous Winthrop families. We hope you will help with the following work:

  • the café
  • front door volunteers
  • wrapping presents
  • collecting money
  • decorating the school
  • set up & clean up

Please contact Stacey Verge at justinandstacey@verizon.net to find out how you can help.

The Holiday Boutique December 3 – lots of ways to get involved

The Holiday Boutique is the biggest fundraiser for the Friends of Winthrop. 100% of the money raised is given back to the school to fund new computers, cultural enrichment programs that enhance the curriculum, new playground equipment and buses for off-site field trips, etc.

This year’s Holiday Boutique will feature more than 50 Local Vendors offering fabulous gift ideas for the holidays. You can stock up on cookies at the Cookie Walk, bid on some great items at the Silent Auction, and enjoy a scrumptious lunch in our Winthrop Café. A favorite with the kids: Children will delight in doing their own holiday shopping with the help of some very eager elves in the Children’s Secret Shop where all gifts cost $5 or less. And of course Santa will be on site!

Don’t miss out on the excitement and spread the word amongst your friends in the community!
