FRIENDS OF WINTHROP MEETING MINUTES

Call Meeting to Order
•    Amy Katz called the meeting to order
•    Motion: To approve the minutes from the October, 2009 FOW meeting. Voted and unanimously approved.

Principal’s Report (Carrie Vaich)
•    Carrie Vaich reported that the Hamilton Wenham Rotary was once again donating dictionaries to third grade students. The Rotarians discussed their mission of raising funds for polio vaccinations and literacy with students.
•    Carrie Vaich thanked parents for participating in parent teacher conferences and for communicating with teachers.
•    Carrie Vaich thanked parents for keeping sick children home from school and reported that the school is taking steps to reduce illness including promoting handwashing and coughing into elbows as well as keeping hand sanitizer accessible and windows open as much as possible.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: Coming Soon

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Winthrop School!  Come one come all, come to one of the best book fairs of the year.

When can we shop? Students will be able to shop with their classes on 12/3 and 12/4.  The Book Fair will also be open on Saturday, December 5th during the Holiday Boutique.

What can we buy? There will be a wide selection of popular and award winning books available for purchase as well as “teachers wishes” if you wish to purchase a book for the classroom.

How can I help? If you would like to volunteer, please contact Christine Cutter at clcutter [at] verizon.net.

Please contact Jan Lee at Winthrop School if your child needs financial assistance to purchase books.

Open House Oct 6 – What to Expect

We hope you can all make it to tonight’s open house.

The Friends of Winthrop will be active at the event, doing the following:

• Annual Open House Bake Sale
• Season Pass For Sale: Last chance to pick up your child’s season pass for the 2009/10 school year
• Field Trip to the Farm:  Don’t forget to sign up for the Adult Social ton October 16th – it’s going to be a GREAT night
• Items for sale include: Hats, T-shirts, Jibbitz and Aluminum Water Bottles

Don’t forget – Wednesday, October 7th is HAT DAY.

Send your children into school with $1- and let them break the rules for one day – by wearing a HAT ALL DAY LONG!
